COMPOSITION I (BASIC READING AND WRITING I) is a sample reading and writing course designed to reinforce and develop student understanding of grammatical concepts, punctuation, sentence structure, paper formatting, source documentation, basic reading skills, and writing process skills, as well the skills needed to produce post-high-school-level discourse (In this course, less emphasis is given to spelling, listening/speaking, and pre-high school reading skills, since a mandatory knowledge of these skills is required to complete this course). Recommended Materials: a competent handbook (with exercises), a competent workbook, and a competent developmental-level reader.
